Bed Bug Powder

Diatomaceous Earth is a natural, organic and effective insect killing powder. It contains no chemicals whatsoever. The insecticidal quality of Diatomaceous Earth is due to the razor sharp edges of the diatom which remains. This kills insects by causing dehydration and works on: Bed Bugs, ants, aphids, fleas, earwigs, mange mites, flies, ticks, slugs, house dust mites, cockroaches and many more.

What is Diatomaceous earth? Diatomaceous earth is made from the fossilised remains of tiny, aquatic organisms called "diatoms". Their skeletons are made of a natural substance called silica. Over a long period of time, diatoms accumulated in the sediment of rivers, streams, lakes and oceans. Today, silica deposits are mined from these areas.

How does it work? Diatomaceous earth is not poisonous. Diatomaceous earth causes insects to dry out and die by absorbing the oils and fats from the cuticle of the insect's exoskeleton. It's sharp edges are abrasive, speeding up the killing process. It remains effective as long as it is kept dry and undisturbed. Diatomaceous Earth works in a purely physical and mechanical manner. It is not ‘chemical’ and thus has no chemical toxicity and parasites don’t build up a tolerance or immunity to it. Reported to kill 75% of flies and fleas that come in contact with it within 3 days, Diatomaceous earth is excellent for eliminating Bed Bugs, ants, aphids, flea beetles, fleas, earwigs, sowbugs, mange mites, flies, ticks, slugs, house dust mites and cockroaches etc.

Diatomaceous earth can be used in areas where insects might crawl through the powder such as under furniture or mattresses. You can lift up your mattress and dust underneath it. Or under the bed itself. You can use it on carpet areas underneath bedside cabinets etc.
